ERA-5/1 is based on a serial mechanism with the motors concentrated at the shoulder for a small inertia.

The gripper is always horizontal thanks to a passive parallel mechanism.

The arm has 3 degrees of freedom (DOF) at the shoulder, 1 DOF at the elbow and 1 DOF at the wrist for the rotation of the gripper around a horizontal axis.

The gripper has one degree of freedom. It is equipped with 12 infrared presence detection sensors to detect when an object is inserted between the fingers.

D3rotation along an axis parallel to D20°/+120°75°/sec
D4rotation along a horizontal axis±160°180°/sec
