The Autonomous Mobile Vehicle is used in rehabilitation centers and hospitals to transport patients and goods by means of dedicated modules as in the industry for light load transportation (see Automation). However, this platform is very adaptable and can be used for other service robotics applications and for research.

The Autonomous Modular Wheelchair is in reality a mobile base, which can dock to various modules. The concept has been developed within a European funded project called MOVEMENT

Beside the logistics application in the healthcare, the versatility of the AMV-1 makes it suitable for a variety of applications going from mail delivery to research.

Today, BlueBotics proposes the AMV-1 base either with the chair module or with a fix chair. With this setup, AMV-1 can be used either autonomously with ANT® navigation under the control of the ERP system, or manually driven with a standard wheelchair joystick. Various transportation modules (food, drugs, etc.) are available on request.
