June 2008: AUTOMATICA trade fair, Münich

AUTOMATICA is the reference automation trade fair in Europe. The third edition will take place on June 10-13, 2008 in the New Munich Trade Fair Centre. BlueBotics will participate within the Innovation Platform Service Robotics showing the latest products and developments for automation and service robotics.


April 2008: Hannover Messe trade fair, Hannover

The Hannover Messe (April 21-25) is the largest technology trade fair in Europe. This year, one complete building will be dedicated to mobile robots & autonomous systems. BlueBotics will present ANT® on the navigation island booth (Halle 25, booth E01). The company will also address the industrial logistics market with the AMV-1 vehicle and service robotics with Igor, the robotic butler.


March 2008: EURON / EUnited Robotics Award

BlueBotics won the 2. prize of the 2008 EURON / EUnited Robotics Technology Transfer Award. The company has presented ANT® as a successful technology transfer with the EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne). ANT® is the reference product of BlueBotics permitting competing in the logistics automation and entering the emerging service robotics market.


November 2007: CTI startup label

BlueBotics is awarded with the CTI startup label certifying the company as "ready for sustainable business development". CTI startup, the Swiss Commission for Technology and Innovation, promotes the immediate benefit of the scientific and technology knowledge worked out by researchers and entrepreneurs.

October 2007: AMV-1 at the REHACARE, Düsseldorf

The rehabilitation company Otto Bock has presented the AMV-1 at the REHACARE trade fair, October 15-18, 2007, in Düsseldorf. Otto Bock is our partner in the development of the AMV-1 autonomous modular vehicle solution.


September 2007: go.automation trade fair, Basel

BlueBotics has participated with the Swiss Mobile robotics Consortium at the go.automation trade fair, Switzerland largest automation trade fair, which took place on September 4-7, 2007 in Basel. The positive feedback received all over the go.automation week is a push to increase the activity in the industrial field.


July 2007: FSR conference, Chamonix

BlueBotics SA was present with the largest booth at the Field and Service Robotics conference (FSR, July 9-12 2007, Chamonix, France).


June 2007: GESO Robotic Event, Lausanne

BlueBotics has co-organized with GESO (Groupement Electronique de Suisse Occidentale) and EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne) an event with the title: "Robotics in movement: Opportunities for the industry". The event was addressed to the industrial big players of the region to present the innovative solutions that can be applied to classical industrial automation.


June 2007: EUnited Robotics' European Service Robotics, Brussels

BlueBotics has been invited to present its activities for the EUnited Robotics event named "European Service Robotics - Teaming up for a Growth Market". The goal of the event is to start an initiative to bring together the service robotics players in Europe.


April 2007: IEEE/IFR Invention & Entrepreneurship Award

BlueBotics SA has received the IEEE/IFR Invention & Entrepreneurship Finalist Award for Nesbot™, the new service robot developed with Nestlé Nespresso SA, which has been presented as world premiere at the ICRA 2007 conference in Rome. The award final took place during the IEEE-IFR Joint Forum on Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Robotics and Automation (IERA), on April 10 2007, Rome, Italy. Look at the program.


April 2007: ICRA 2007, Rome

BlueBotics SA was present with the largest booth at the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA, April 10-14 2007, Rome, Italy). ICRA is the world largest research conference in robotics.

The company has presented as world premiere Nesbot™ the new service robot developed with Nestlé Nespresso SA and selected for the IEEE/IFR Invention & Entrepreneurship Award. If you want to know more, check our portfolio.


March 2007: Georges Giralt PhD Award

Dr. Pierre Lamon, our scientific manager, received the Georges Giralt PhD Award during the EURON annual meeting in Chaina, Crete, on March 28. The Georges Giralt PhD Award is an annual award given by EURON for the best PhD thesis in Europe. Pierre has been awarded for his research "3D Position Tracking for all-terrain Robots", which was terminated in 2005.


November 2006: The Consortium is getting bigger

Founded end of 2004 by four companies from the Lake Geneva area (BlueBotics, Cyberbotics, FiveCo and K-TEAM), the Swiss Mobile Robotics Consortium is adding Neuronics, Zurich and GCtronic, Mendrisio to its membership, thus now representing all Swiss linguistic regions. The consortium has been established to promote the use of new robot technologies at an industrial level and to create and improve the awareness of today's and tomorrow's Mobile Robotics market. Its members, each specialist experts in their own fields, offer innovative and complementary competences and technologies, which can be easily interfaced to meet market requirements of any size and complexity.


July 2006: Automation with BlueBotics and Esatroll

BlueBotics SA and Esatroll SA join their effort to strengthen their position in the automation segment. Esatroll develops, markets and integrates AGVs.
BlueBotics has found with Esatroll the ideal partner for the introduction of ANT® into the Italian logistics market. On the other side, with this collaboration, Esatroll expects to extend its market to Switzerland and France. Note that Esatroll is the only integrator in Italy able to install AGVs up to 16 tons and 9 meters long. With this partnership, BlueBotics expects to extend its activities to the automation segment while keeping the same growth in the service robotics field.


July 2006: Shrimp III into Webots

Shrimp III in Webots

BlueBotics and Cyberbotics are working on the model of the Shrimp III to be included in Webots, the mobile robotics simulation software of Cyberbotics. The modeling of Shrimp III will take full advantage of the 3D physical simulation tool and its complex 3D environments.
Once a behavior is programmed in the simulator, it can directly be played on the real robot. It is even possible to run both the simulation and the real robot simultaneously!


May 2006: BlueBotics at ELROB with Smart-Team

BlueBotics SA technically supports and sponsors the Smart-Team, a Swiss and German team participating to the ELROB event - the 1st European Land-Robot Trial.
BlueBotics joined the team with the slogan "Robots without guns" in order to make clear its position regarding military applications which are out of the scope of the company. BlueBotics managed to put the Asimov's first law of robotics on the team's car: "A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm".


February 2006: BlueBotics in Japan

BlueBotics SA has been invited by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) to create a strong cooperation in the field of robotic industry. Osaka city wants the Kansai region to become the "Silicon Valley" of robotics. The "JETRO Invitation Program for the Robot Sector" is looking for robotics companies in order to build up this market together with the local companies. The Kansai region is known worldwide due to the presence of big players, such as MATSUSHITA-PANASONIC, SANYO and SHARP.
BlueBotics SA is now starting some projects in this region and plans to build up cooperation with several companies by means of innovative service robotics concepts.


October 7th, 2005:   BlueBotics member of the EUROP initiative

BlueBotics was in Brussels, when Viviane Reding, the European Commissioner for Information Society and Media, officially launched the European Robotics Platform EUROP, as part of her i2010 initiative.
The EUROP platform brings together more than 50 companies with the common objective to strengthen and develop the current and future generation of European robotics industry. These include leaders in industrial robotics such as KUKA, ABB, COMAU and REIS, service and consumer product suppliers like Philips and Electrolux, and service and systems suppliers such as SAFRAN, EADS, THALES, and FINMECCANICA. Many high-tech SMEs also participate in the venture representing 70% of the stakeholders involved, BlueBotics being one of them.

July 1st, 2005:   RoboX in Scotland

Since July 2005, RoboX is greeting visitors at the Sensation Science Centre in Dundee, Scotland.
Equipped with ANT®, our tour-guiding robot is patrolling to present the attractions of the Science Centre and to introduce the recently inaugurated RoboRealm exhibition.


April 11, 2005:   Technology meets Arts - "Robots - Roses for Jusinka"

BlueBotics is providing its experience to an innovative artistic project: "Robots - Roses for Jusinka". (See also the Press Coverage and the official web site).
BlueBotics has delivered three robots that will act in a theater play together with two human actors. The development of these robots was done in collaboration with the ECAL for the aesthetical design and with the EPFL for the theater application software.
The concept of the play was presented for the first time on April 11 during "La Magistrale", the EPFL Graduation ceremony.


October 22, 2004:   Distribution of the Shrimp III by AAI

Applied AI Systems, Inc., Ottawa, Canada and BlueBotics SA signed a distribution agreement about the Shrimp III covering USA, Canada and Asia. This agreement widens the Shrimp III distribution worldwide.


October 20, 2004:   World ROBOTICS

BlueBotics participated as exhibitor to the World ROBOTICS, Conference and Exhibition, in the Palais des Nations, Geneva.
This event was organized by United Nations - Economic Commision for Europe (UNECE) and the European Robotics Research Network (EURON).
